Editorial policy

This page explains how we put together and maintain the guides on Insights On Insurance.

What we cover

We write about the cost of medical and dental care, prescriptions and health insurance in the US. Most guides are written for people paying out of pocket.

How we handle prices

Our guides give price ranges. The same treatment can cost very different amounts depending on the provider, the city and the details of the case, and prices change over time. Treat our figures as a starting point and confirm the price with the provider or your insurer before treatment.

Updates and corrections

We review a guide when prices, laws or insurance rules change, and each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you find an error, email hello@insightsoninsurance.com with a link to the page. When we confirm a mistake, we fix it and update the date on the guide.

Independence

We don’t earn commissions from providers or insurers, and we don’t accept payment to mention a provider, product or plan in a guide.

Advertising

The site may show display ads, including ads served by Google. Ads are placed automatically and kept separate from our writing. Advertisers don’t see guides before they are published and have no say in what we write.

Not professional advice

Our guides explain costs and ways to pay less. They are not medical, legal or financial advice. For decisions about your own care or coverage, talk to your provider, your insurer or a licensed professional.
